Massage

Jane Haddow is a massage therapist based in Edinburgh, specialising in Sports and Remedial Massage.

If you have any repetitive strains, chronic aches and pains, whether you are sports active or inactive regular massage will help you.

Remedial massage is a fantastic “hands on” treatment for the body. Treatments release acute, chronic pain and tension in tight sore muscle groups resulting in increased flexibility and mobility.

Remedial massage helps with stress, relaxes and balances the various systems of the body leading to a more balanced, unified mind and body.

Sports Massage

Sports massage keeps the body in check and helps treat sports related injuries. If you have had injuries in the past, scar tissue can develop resulting in tight sore muscles which in turn can lead to pain and discomfort. Massage realigns the muscle fibres leading to healthy muscles that function properly.

Regular sports and deep tissue massage will keep the muscle groups in tip top condition for activity and events throughout the year. Sports massage aids recovery, helps prevent the recurrence of injury and also increases sporting performance.

Pilates

Pilates is for everyone, we all move and Pilates is about natural flowing movement. Practiced regularly and correctly, Pilates will improve the way you move all of the time!

Regular Pilates is a great way for you to maintain a flexible, mobile and strong body and is a fabulous preventative measure. Your posture will improve dramatically so help yourself to maintain a healthy, stress free body.

It’s often good to do Pilates classes after several massage treatments so the muscles have been released and no acute or chronic pain remains. Then you can take charge and strengthen those muscles!

Frequent practice is the key. A weekly Pilates class will change the way you feel. It will help you stand and sit straighter and feel fitter. Combine Pilates classes with regular massage treatments to keep your body in balance so you stay happy and stress free.

Qigong (similar to Tai Chi) is an easy to learn system of energy enhancing standing or sitting exercises that co-ordinates movement with breathing and inner concentration. If practiced regularly, it will give you more energy, improve health and prevent illness.

The primary aim of practicing Qigong is to gently build and regulate your vitality by enhancing your Qi (life energy) which is found in everyone. Qigong is widely practiced throughout the Far East and increasingly throughout the Western world. Research indicates that Qigong relaxes the muscles and nervous system (so improving the function of other body systems) and benefits posture, balance and flexibility of joints.
